“Faith and Film” — A Tribute to Renée Hirshfield
April 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
For a number of years, a small group gathered regularly to enjoy classic films selected and introduced by the Cathedral’s own unique cinephile, Renée Hirshfield. In fact, we had been recently planning with Renée to restart this series in the near future. And, of course, Renée left us doing exactly what she loved to do, sharing her own love of film with a classroom full of film enthusiasts. One of Renée’s favorite films was Babette’s Feast, based on a short story by Danish author Isak Dinesen (perhaps better known for Out of Africa). It was also a favorite of parishioner Tom Allen’s Dad, the late former Cathedral Dean Michael Allen. Dean Allen left Tom a copy of the DVD, and we thought of no finer tribute to Renée than to gather again to view this cinema classic, and Tom has offered to share his copy.
Please join us for Babette’s Feast. We will also share coffee and dessert.
We will screen the film in Schuyler Hall, 4th Fl. Please enter via the south alley door (Olive St.)
