Third Annual Concert Across America to End Gun Violence
September 24 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
In 2007, Congress designated Sept. 25 as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. Two out of every three victims are killed with a firearm (30,000+ individuals per year in the U.S.) and the day of “remembrance” is what Congress has done to acknowledge such loss. The first annual Concert Across America took place on this day; this year in an attempt to reach more people across the country the third annual Concert will be at over 300 locations across America on Sunday Sept.24.
The goal of the “Concert Across America” is to remember the tremendous loss of life that gun violence has and continues to cost so many families and communities. It is a day to remember, raise awareness and seek common sense change. Concerts will be in religious and secular settings across the country at various times throughout the day. Here at Christ Church Cathedral our music and Scripture at the 10 a.m. service will reflect our call to love, justice and peace and the Scripture and at least one piece of music will reflect the same at our Evensong at 5 p.m. Please do join us and keep all victims of gun violence and their loved ones in your prayers, on your heart and in mind as we work together to end gun violence in our land.
