Funerals and Columbarium
Our space honors the dead with burial worship services from The Book of Common Prayer. The burial service centers on the deep gratitude to God for the gift of a life and for the promise of eternal life in the resurrection. We pray for the dead because we still hold them in our love, even after their death.
A niche in our columbarium (a sacred space for storing the remains) is available in Bofinger Chapel, adjacent to the Cathedral, for members or past members of the Cathedral or the Diocese of Missouri
Funerals: Services are set as the Cathedral’s schedule allows and are held in either the Nave (the main worship space), which can seat up to 450 people, or the adjoining, private Bofinger Chapel, which can seat 50. Fees are based on the use of Cathedral resources—including but not limited to space rental, clergy, and music. Officiating clergy and the deceased’s family members jointly plan the service, which may include the Eucharist.
Columbarium: Persons eligible for interment in the columbarium must be either members or past members of the congregation of Christ Church Cathedral; members or past members of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri; or their spouses, children, or other family members. Determinations of eligibility are made by the Provost and the Senior Warden of the Cathedral. Please call the Cathedral office at 314.231.3454 for additional information.
