On Sundays, the Cathedral and guest clergy preach and lead the service and lay members of the Cathedral support the worship by serving as acolytes, altar guild members, lectors/readers, sub-deacons and ushers.

Acolytes are the servers, torchbearers, lighters of candles, crucifers and banner-bearers in the procession and altar party.  They assist deacons and sub-deacons with the preparation of the Eucharistic table on the altar.  Acolytes are the servers who wait upon the table so that the congregation can worship without interruption.  Their service at the altar is a symbol of our service to the world.  Coordinator:  Josh Houdasheldt.

The Altar Guild supports weekly and other scheduled worship services at the Cathedral.  Its volunteers prepare the altars, flowers, communion ware, altar linens, hangings and other service materials.  They also assist at weddings, funerals, the annual Flower Festival and other occasions, as well as support such special diocesan events as confirmations and ordinations.  Coordinator:  Myrna Wacker.

Chalice Bearers assist the clergy in distributing Communion to the congregation.  Coordinator:  Todd Eller. 

Lectors/readers read the scriptures and act as leaders of the prayers of the people during services.  Training sessions for all of these ministries are scheduled regularly.  Coordinator:  Tom Gardner.

Subdeacons sit and stand to the left of the celebrant.  They carry and hold the Gospel Book, can lead intercessory prayers and assist the priest in setting the table for Eucharist and in the distribution of Communion.  Coordinator:  Josh Houdasheldt.

The Ushers invite, welcome and assist members and visitors as they enter the Cathedral.  At each service, they tally attendance, direct the presentation of the bread and wine at the altar for Communion and pass the offering plates.  They also direct the flow of congregants to the altar for Communion and inform the celebrant if a member or visitor needs Communion taken to his or her seat because they are unable to come to the altar.  Coordinator:  Alice Stanley.
