Services
Christ Church Cathedral has a rich and varied worship program that reflects the diversity of our congregation and our faith community.

Current 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Summer Schedule

Through Sept. 5 (the Sunday of Labor Day weekend), our worship services are at 8 and 10 a.m.  We are exploring also multigenerational education and fellowship opportunities for the hour in between.

One reason for the time shift is that so many people loved coming together as a community last summer.  Additionally, we are going to take time and review our non-summertime Sunday liturgies—particularly the 9 a.m. service but also the 8 and 11:15 services.  We will see how they have developed over the past year as well as examine what’s working and what needs improvement.  This summertime process will help us plan for the rest of 2010 and for 2011.

Come be a part of these worship and planning opportunities!

STREET CLOSING ALERT for Sunday, June 13
Because of the June 12 Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure, the regular Saturday street closings have moved to Sunday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  (Closed streets reopen at 1:30 p.m.)  When you come to the Cathedral on June 13, keep in mind that these streets will be closed to motorists:

Locust from 8th to Theresa;
Theresa north to Washington;
Washington to Taylor;
South on Taylor to Olive; and
Olive west to Euclid.

The following streets will be open to cross traffic: 10th, Tucker, 14th, Jefferson, Compton and Sarah.

The St. Louis Open Streets program opens City streets for the enjoyment of joggers, cyclists, visitors and residents of all ages.  For more information, visit St. Louis Open Streets.

Regular Sunday Worship Schedule
(Sunday after Labor Day through Last Sunday in May)

Holy Eucharist, Rite I, at 8 a.m.

Holy Eucharist, Rite II, at 9 a.m.

Choral Eucharist, Rite II, at 11:15 a.m.

Childcare is available Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for infants through three-year-olds.  Church school and adult education is from 10:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sundays.  For additional information on either, go to the Christian Education  page on this site.

The Rite I service at 8 a.m. on Sundays uses the majestic language of the traditional Rite I liturgy.  Worshipers at this service appreciate the quiet, meditative atmosphere and the emphasis upon the poetry of the spoken word.

Worshippers at both the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday services enjoy the contemporary language of the Rite II liturgy while experiencing very distinct musical and cultural expressions specific to each service.  The 9 a.m. service has an informal, family-affirming atmosphere with congregation-led hymns and communion in a circle around the altar.  The 11:15 a.m. Choral Eucharist features the Cathedral Choir and the traditional and majestic liturgical tone often associated with Episcopal/Anglican cathedrals.  Magnificent choral anthems enrich this service and communion is administered at the high altar.
