Cathedral Legacy Giving Fellowship

Sep 14 - Nov 2

Thinking ahead about what we hope for ourselves and our families leads us to plan for our personal futures. In our Cathedral’s life, what are our long-term visions for our church and its ministries and mission? Legacy giving is thinking ahead about what’s important in your faith life as it intersects with the life of the Cathedral and contributing to its future.

The Cathedral Legacy Giving Fellowship invites you to think ahead and share your faith through a gift to the church after your lifetime. Most often legacy gifts are planned gifts made as part of a will or trust. Legacy giving is not only for the wealthy — any size gift is a resource to continue this faith community in loving God and loving the people God loves.

Legacy gifts are a vital part of the Cathedral’s ongoing life. Legacy gifts allow us to respond to the changing needs of our community. They allow us to envision new ministry and respond to doing Christ’s work now and in the future. They allow us to care for our beautiful buildings, as they serve Christ’s work and people.

Over generations, the saints who came before us in this Cathedral made their gifts, trusting in our faith in Jesus, our good stewardship, and our vision to build God’s beloved community. The Cathedral Legacy Giving Fellowship is our intentional ministry to build support for our vision to grow our Cathedral, engage all our neighbors, and plan for the future.

Sunday, Sept. 14, at 11:30 a.m. – we’ll prepare for the launch of Cathedral Legacy Giving Fellowship hear from a family who has made a legacy gift. A retired practicing attorney, Kim Sindel, will explain basics of wills and their purpose, including the importance to act now in planning bequests or legacy gifts. For those who are unable to attend in person, the session will be live-streamed here.

Sunday, Sept. 21, at 11:30 a.m.(cancelled-will be rescheduled TBA) – we’ll discuss options to make “life income gifts” through the Episcopal Church Foundation, a financial arm of the Episcopal Church of the USA (ECUSA) to explore leaving a legacy for ourselves and our church. We’ll talk with another family who has made legacy gifts. For those who are unable to attend in person, the session will be live-streamed here.

Sunday, Nov. 2 – we will formally initiate the Cathedral Legacy Giving Fellowship as we celebrate our Christ Church birthday on All Saints Day. Further gatherings will focus on other topics of interest as we share fellowship. Please be part of these important steps forward in the life of our beloved community of faith. For those who are unable to attend in person, the session will be live-streamed here.
