Be SMART, a program to prevent gun deaths among children, will be the subject of an Adult Formation presentation at 9:10 a.m. and information table following the 10:30 a.m. service.
Be SMART was launched in 2015 to promote responsible gun ownership with the goal of reducing child gun deaths.
Children deserve to feel safe, no matter where they are. Whether you’re a gun owner, or you know someone who owns a gun, there is a role for everyone in the conversation around secure gun storage.
Be SMART (an acronym for Secure, Model, Ask, Recognize, Tell) is a framework that parents, caretakers and community leaders can follow to help keep their communities safe. Ultimately, you can help prevent kids from accessing firearms by storing them securely and encouraging others to do the same.
The slide show presentation is approved by Everytown for Gun Safety and also by our diocese. Diane Chalberg will do the slideshow presentation and Lore Gross will lead the Be SMART Table.
